In Christ Alone
In Christ alone, my hope is found.
On more than one occasion lately, I’ve started singing this song and can’t even make it past that first line without tearing up.
In Christ alone, my hope is found.
I sang those 7 words on a loop. Over and over and over. Because my soul really needs to hear it.
In Christ alone, my hope is found.
When I feel tired and weary…in Christ alone my hope is found.
“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” -Isaiah 40:28-31
When I have days that are heavy and painful…in Christ alone, my hope is found.
“I remember my affliction and my wandering, the bitterness and the gall. I will remember them, and my soul is downcast within me. Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” -Lamentations 3:19-20
Though I feel like I’m relearning what it means to love and be loved, and that can be hard and complicated…in Christ alone, my hope is found.
“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.” -1 John 3:16
In Christ alone, my hope is found.
In Christ, hope is found.
Christ, my hope.
Hope.
Draw near to His heart. Listen for His voice. Lean back in His arms. Let Him hold your soul in His careful, qualified hands. Trust Him with your wounds, your dreams, your confessions. Find yourself at the manger, the cross, the tomb. Let His love become real to you. Breathe deep and rest. He’s got you. And He’s not going anywhere.
