Jesus’ 9-Step Discipleship Model

As Sea Harp Press was coming into being, one of the directors of this new venture began laying out a question of vision:

If we read through the Gospels and Acts, doesn’t it become clearer and clearer that Jesus’ pattern with His original disciples might, in fact, be the pattern He still wants for us: for His Body?

Jesus began with direct personal encounter: “Follow Me.”

Then His disciples came to know and enjoy His person and personality.

For three years, they heard His every word; learned to listen and obey His teachings.

At the Cross, He “finished” the work: made His children holy and blameless.

On the morning of Easter, He ended death for all who’d believe in Him.

With His Ascension, He returned—as a Man—to the throne of Heaven.

He invited His friends to approach the throne of grace with confidence.

He sent His very own Spirit to inhabit His followers’ hearts.

He delighted to watch His men and women bring the Kingdom of Heaven unto all.

So, here’s the beating heart of the staff at Sea Harp Press:

  • Our readers and listeners must have direct personal encounter with Him.

  • Our readers and listeners must come to know His personality for themselves.

  • Our readers and listeners must hear His words, learn to listen and obey the actual things He actually asked His Body to do.

  • Our readers and listeners must learn to live as the faultless, flawless children of the Cross.

  • Our readers and listeners must, like the Early Church, become fearless acolytes of the power of the Resurrection.

  • Our readers and listeners must know the glory of our Friend, our Savior, reigning in Heaven on our behalf.

  • Our readers and listeners must learn to approach the throne of grace with greater confidence.

  • Our readers and listeners must fall in love with the Holy Spirit, sent personally to us.

  • Our readers and listeners must carry Jesus, and His Kingdom of Heaven, unto all.

What an adventure to follow His Way together—thank you for being part of the Sea Harp Family!
